It was named after lawyer and MP, Dr Ferenc Óvári.
The Lookout tower was built at around the turn of the last century, and on top of its red sandstone base there was a red-pine wooden structure and balustrade covered by a tiled roof. After the devastating storm of 1906, first the balustrade was rebuilt, followed by the renovation of the wooden structure after the vicissitudes of World War II. Based on contemporary photographs, the roof was renovated in a simpler structure by the local government.
The centre of the panorama opens on the Fűzfő Bay, and the characteristic church of Vörösberény can be seen to the left in the foreground. Farther off, the high shore of Kenese and the factories of Fűzfő can be seen. Megye Hill towers above Vörösberény, while Vár Hill, Red Hill and Csere Hill can be viewed to the right.
